Join Us Sunday

Services

Worship services are held every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Full children’s ministry staffed by screened volunteers is available for children from infants to 8th graders.

Music

The musical component of worship at New Hope features a mix of both contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns. If you are interested in auditioning for the worship team please contact Mary Poling.

Prayer

Typically, we devote a portion of our Sunday morning worship time to corporate prayer. The flavor of this time varies from week to week. Occasionally we’ll utilize a formal piece of liturgy such as the Book of Common Prayer. Other times we may pray through a Psalm or other scripture. Perhaps most frequently, we’ll have an open time of prayer requests from the congregation.

Teaching

It is our belief that the preaching of the Word of God is a vital component of Christian worship. New Hope preaching is exegetical in nature, meaning that each sermon will be tied to a specific biblical text. Preaching series will vary in content from expositional studies of individual books in the bible, to topical series that will jump around the biblical narrative from week to week. It’s strongly encouraged that congregants spend time in the passage for the coming Sunday in their devotional time during the preceding week.

Worshipping During the Pandemic

Currently*, our congregation meets in-person and online each Sunday at 10am. All are invited and encouraged to join us.

It is understandable that some are not ready to return to in-person worship quite yet. We encourage each individual and each household to exercise caution as they feel is necessary. A livestream of each service will broadcast through our YouTube channel.

In gathering together, we will follow the guidelines given to us by our landlords at the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. We’re using their space, so we’ll respect their rules. We’ll keep the congregation updated on changes to safety precautions. At this time, we are mask optional.
